Private: How to fill in the Indicator Profile data entry form

In the Indicator Profile data entry form you can:

  • Create an indicator from scratch;
  • Enter basic information related to the indicator;
  • Select a date;
  • Separate indicator data into sub-groups
  • Add data points.

  • General

This section is used to enter general information about an indicator. The information includes the indicator name, data format, the frequency with which the target and actual values will be reported, etc.

  • Disaggregations

This section is used to define how the indicator data is disaggregated, as well as to add data points. Information on the data point disaggregation is also captured in this section.

General section

The General section is used to enter basic information related to the indicator, including the indicator’s name and type, periodicity, start and end dates, and more.

General Section (Quantitative Indicator)

Quantitative indicators indicate a quantity. The quantity can be a pure number, an index, a ratio, or a percentage. Quantitative indicators give a clear measure of things and are numerically comparable. This enables officials to compare the performances or achievements of two or more measured instances.

General Section (Qualitative Indicator)

Qualitative indicators do not show numeric measures as such. Rather, they depict the status of something in more of qualitative terms. For example, the degree to which the media in the country has a right to be exercised freely may not be measurable in quantitative terms. But it can be graded based on qualitative findings, such as questionnaires or value lists.

Filling in the General section

To provide information requested in the General section:

  1. Select the Indicator context type: quantitative or qualitative.
  2. Add the name of the indicator and enter a brief definition.
  3. Specify the data format of the indicator: NumberTextValue listPercent or Date.
  4. Indicate if a decrease in the indicated value will be considered a positive change.
  5. Specify the indicator nature: Incremental (indicator’s value as the sum of all values over specific periods) or Cumulative (a running total of periodic values for the indicator).
  6. Indicate the Indicator type: ImpactOutcome or Output.
  7. Specify if the indicator is rounding; this field is used to indicate whether the indicator is shown as a summary.
  8. Indicate the frequency with which the indicator actual values will be reported and measured.
  9. Specify the frequency with which he indicator target values will be measured and reported.
  10. Define the start date and the end date when the indicator activities are planned to be started and ended.

Select a date

The Calendar pop-up appears for the fields that require date input. It provides an easy way to select the year, month, and day of an event.

Disaggregations section

The Disaggregations section of the Indicator Profile data entry form describes the process of data disaggregation which implies separating indicator data into sub-groups (or meaningful categories) to meet the organization’s data analyses and reporting needs.

Disaggregations section

To provide information requested in the Disaggregations section, fill in the following fields:

  • Disaggregate
  • Data Points

Managing disaggregations

  1. In the Disaggregate field, click Add Disaggregation.
Adding a Disaggregation

2. Provide the necessary disaggregation details.

Recording the Disaggregation Details

Note: When you select disaggregations for a specific data point, all disaggregations having a greater order number will be automatically added to the data point.

3․ Specify if the disaggregation must be shown in rows or columns. Depending on the selection, the relevant indicator progress tracking table structure is displayed

4․ Specify what filters can be applied to the indicator progress tracking table to find data rows: NoneSelectMultiple select.

5. To edit the disaggregation, open the Edit Disaggregation form and update the displayed data.

6. You can configure the indicator disaggregation and select the disaggregation data for which you want to record tracking data. To do so, open the Refine Disaggregation form, then search for and select the disaggregation items for which the tracking data should be reported.

Refining a disaggregation

Note: The remaining disaggregation items will be excluded from the indicator progress tracking table.

7. To remove a disaggregation, highlight the corresponding disaggregation and click Delete.

Managing Data Points

The indicator data are captured through data points. Every indicator must have at least one data point that defines what information must be collected during monitoring.

  1. Go to the Disaggregation tab and open the Add Data Point form.
Adding a Data Point

2. Specify the type of data point that you want to add to the indicator: BaselineTargetActual or None.

Note: It is possible to add more than one data point of the same type.

3. Select the data point that will be used to collect the indicator data from the source.

4. Specify if the data point is required. If it is required, the data point is displayed as a mandatory field in the indicator tracking data form

5. Specify if the data point is a read-only field. If it is, the data point is displayed as an inactive field in the indicator tracking data form, and you will not be able to enter any values for the relevant data point

Note: A data point field might not be accessible for manual data entry when the indicator data points are calculated through expressions or populated automatically following data import.

6. Define what disaggregates are linked to the data point and determine if a data point should be excluded from aggregation rules. To do this, select all checkboxes that apply.

7. To edit a data point, highlight the record you want to edit. The Data Point form will open.

8. Update the displayed data and save the changes made.

9. To remove a data point, highlight the corresponding record and click Delete.
